Event Recap: California Economic Forecast
On January 14th, 2020 SMPS-OC held their third annual California Economic Forecast event, where Raymond Sfeir, Ph.D., Director of the Anderson Center for Economic Research and Professor of Economics from Chapman University discussed California and Orange County growth, doing business in an ever-changing political climate, preparing for slower growth, and how to navigate business in 2020.
"We are in the midst of the longest economic expansion in U.S. history," said Dr. Sfeir. There were many factors touched on at the event that will affect the transition of the California economy, including increasing housing prices, contracting manufacturing, maintaining employment in a tight market, population migration out of California to states like Texas and Colorado, and expansion of wages.
Dr. Sfeir maintained upbeat that even with slower growth there are plenty of opportunities for businesses to be strategic and think about what they can do to succeed in a slower economy.
